Today the story continues. Brought forward by around 6000 people in the same place where its roots run deep, the commitment of one man has become the occupation of many, and the cure for even more.
Chiesi is an international group dedicated to the research, development, manufacture, and sale of innovative products for respiratory, neonatal, and rare diseases and other specialist fields.
Driven by the same thirst for knowledge that inspired its founder, its mission is to discover new pharmaceutical solutions to meet the needs of a changing society that is ever more advanced in its demands.
We are all made of stories. Our origins, what we hope to become, every detail of our lives contains a narrative. The people who have all made the fortunes of Chiesi have a lot to tell us, of achievements, hurdles, milestones reached, and heights conquered.
Time has passed and a lot has changed, but the spirit driving our employees today is the same shown by the original twenty who would greet Giacomo every morning—same enthusiasm, same professionalism, same values. Integrity and social and environmental responsibility are not a finishing line, but the starting blocks for the future.
It is only when you look back at the past with the eyes of the present that you can say it was destiny. And then comes the future.
Thanks to the Chiesi Heritage project, it has been possible to collect and catalogue the historical sources to preserve and spread, via these pages, the historical memory of the company, from that very first day in 1935.
Writings, photographs, posters, old medicine bottles, remote inventions—the finds unearthed digging deeper into the story all bear witness to the brilliant creative genius and commitment of Giacomo Chiesi.
A great family, no matter how far it goes, never forgets the house where it all began.
Home is where it all begins.
Pharmacopoeia, A Journey through the Chemical-Pharmaceutical Identity of the City of Parma is a project conceived by Chiesi Group and Davines to tell the story of the fundamental role that the city of Parma has played in the chemical-pharmaceutical industry.
The project is part of the umbrella programme Open Businesses—Parma 2021 Italian Capital of Culture. (Find out more at www.pharmacopeaparma.it)
Alongside this, with a view to providing a new, more modern understanding of the development of the pharmaceutical industry, Chiesi has developed a digital and physical itinerary exploring the symbolic sites of progress—the Botanical Gardens, the St. Philip Neri Ancient Pharmacy, and the new Chiesi headquarters.
Talent, dedication, sacrifice, and passion are as essential for invention as they are for caring. Caring is a form of art, and every form of art is an act of love.
The Art of Caring is an exploration of the roots of Parma’s pharmaceutical heritage.
A door thrown wide open, an invitation to discover.
A statement of intent: the pharmaceutical industry, and organizations in general engaged in the Health sector, can make a real contribution to improving the quality of life of all people by furthering not only their health, but all aspects of existence, by promoting ethical practices for the benefit of society, and by protecting the health of the planet through the mindset of sustainability.
It is not the destination, but the journey that matters—how you approach it and the companions you meet along the way.
For the creation of the project The Art of Caring, we would like to thank:
